Research Proposal Guidelines
Review Procedures
Research on the population of individuals served by the UGA RCLD and AMAC is supported and encouraged. The following procedures to obtain permission to utilize participants and/or data from the UGA RCLD or AMAC must be followed:
- Submit UGA IRB Application (http://www.ovpr.uga.edu) and vitae of principal investigator to the head of the RCLD/AMAC research division.
- Submit an authorship record form for all research team members along with UGA IRB applications.
- Upon reviewing a research proposal request, the applicant will be notified of the meeting dates of the RCLD/AMAC Research CORD. The Research CORD will provide feedback on the proposal to the head of research.
- After receiving input from the Research CORD and reviewing the proposal, the head of research will make one of the following recommendations:
- A. Approval
- B. Approval with conditions
- C. Non-approval
- Applicants will be notified of the status of their proposal.

- I. RESEARCH PROJECT IDENTIFICATION
- A. Title
- B. Name, Address and Phone Number(s) of Primary Research
- C. Collaborators' Names, Addresses and Phone Numbers (if applicable)
- Major Professor
- Co-researcher(s)
- Sponsor(s)
- D. Date of Submission
- E. Context for Research (i.e., course or degree requirement, grant specific other)
- II. RESEARCH GOALS
- A. Summary Statement of Problem
- B. Research question or specific objectives
- III. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PROCEDURES
- A. Subjects needed and sampling procedure
- B. Approximate dates to begin and end date collection
- C. Amount of time required of the student
- D. Amount of time required of the school staff
- E. Instructions or apparatus to be used (attach copies)
- F. Specific activities with school(s) and person(s) responsible for carrying out each activity
- G. Other student information needed (i.e. access to student records, teacher or parent interview about student, etc.)
- IV. RESULT OF RESEARCH
- A. Benefits to the subjects
- B. Benefits to the University of Georgia and RCLD and/or AMAC
- C. Use of information gained from research
- D. Statement of agreement to forward a copy of the final report to both the UGA-RCLD and AMAC and willingness to provide service to staff if requested to do so
- V. VITAE
- A. Primary researcher should attach copy of vitae
- VI. FORMAL RESEARCH PROPOSAL
- A. Attach one copy of the complete research proposal (i.e., traditional research proposal format, including problem statement, literature review, subjects, procedure, analysis, etc.).
- VII. RESEARCH APPROVAL
- A. Statement of agreement to send sufficient copies of the Research Project Proposal to the UGA RCLD and AMAC and participants.
